Not comfortable with technology? Here's how we make care work for you
We've talked before about how much our technology can offer: the my edyn portal, wellness reports, everything visible in one place at the tap of a screen. Plenty of families love it. But we also know a simple truth: technology isn't for everyone, and it never should be a requirement for receiving wonderful care.
Care that adapts to you, not the other way round

Good care should fit around the person, never force the person to fit around it. That's a principle we hold to firmly, and it applies just as much to how we communicate as to the care itself.
So while our portal is there for those who want it, it's always an option, never an obligation. Whatever someone's comfort with technology, their eyesight, their hearing, or simply their personal preference, we'll find the way of working that suits them best. Nobody misses out on being informed, involved and well looked after because a screen doesn't work for them. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Printed profiles, posted to your door

When we match a carer to your loved one, we share a profile so you know exactly who'll be caring for them. For those who'd rather not view this online, we simply print it and post it to you.
There's something reassuring about having it in your hands: a page you can read at your own pace, keep by the phone, and return to whenever you like. The same helpful information, in a form that feels natural and familiar.
Assessments in person, face to face

Some things are simply better done in person, and getting to know a new client is one of them. Our in-person assessments mean a real member of our team comes to visit, sits down with you, and takes the time to understand your loved one's needs, wishes and routines, warmly and unhurriedly.
It's a proper human conversation, not a form on a tablet. You can read more about what to expect in our guide to the care assessment.
Information in the format that works for you
Everyone takes in information differently, and needs can change with age. If someone has difficulty with their eyesight or hearing, we adapt accordingly: presenting information in whatever format works best, whether that's large, clear print, taking extra time to talk things through, or another approach that suits them.
The goal is always the same: that every person, whatever their needs, can fully understand and stay in control of their own care, with dignity and ease.
A friendly phone call, every week

For families who'd rather not log in to check on things, we offer regular weekly check-ins over the phone. A friendly voice, a proper conversation, and the chance to hear how your loved one is getting on, ask any questions, and raise anything on your mind.
For many people, this is far nicer than any notification could ever be: the human contact, the reassurance of a real person who knows the situation, and the warmth of an actual chat. It's care communication the way it's always worked best.
Care plan reviews in person, as often as needed

Care needs naturally change over time, so care plans need reviewing to keep pace. For those who need it, we carry out these reviews in person, sitting down together to talk through how things are going and what might need to change.
How often we do this depends entirely on the individual: more frequently where needs are changing, less so where things are settled. It's flexible, personal, and shaped around each family rather than a fixed schedule.
Everyone included, no one left behind
Here's the heart of it: whether you're the sort of person who checks the app three times a day or someone who'd rather never touch a computer, you receive exactly the same thing from us: the same transparency, the same involvement, and the same high standard of care. Only the format changes; the substance never does.
Because that's what putting people first really means. It's meeting each person where they are, respecting how they like to do things, and making sure care always feels human, personal and within reach for absolutely everyone.
