How does edyn ensure quality?
When you're trusting a company with the care of someone you love, "trust us, we're good at this" isn't quite enough. You want to know how a provider makes sure its care is genuinely excellent, and, just as importantly, how it keeps it that way over months and years, as needs change.
At Edyn, quality isn't left to chance or luck. It's watched over constantly, through many overlapping layers of listening, checking, reviewing and improving, all underpinned by robust systems, and all delivered with a genuinely human touch. Here's how we make sure the care your loved one receives is, and stays, the very best it can be.
We start by listening to you

The people best placed to tell us how care is going are the families and clients living it every day, so their voices sit right at the heart of how we measure quality. We gather feedback in several ways:
- Regular satisfaction surveys: at least quarterly, and at key milestones or after any significant change, so we're always taking the temperature.
- Ongoing phone and video check-ins: real conversations, not just tick-boxes.
- Easy ways to share feedback, including through our online portal.
- A clear, open process for complaints, compliments and comments: because we want to hear when something isn't right just as much as when it is.
We don't wait for problems to surface; we actively go looking for ways to do better.
We keep a close eye on the care itself
Alongside listening, we check the substance of the care being delivered. Our care managers regularly review each person's care plan and risk assessments to make sure they're still right, and we check daily care records for accuracy and completeness, including careful attention to medication records. It's how we make sure the care actually being provided matches the care that's been planned, and that everything stays safe.
Regular reviews, and a dedicated Care Manager
One of the biggest reassurances we offer is a clear, dependable rhythm of reviews, so care is never simply "set up and forgotten." From the very beginning, every client has a dedicated Care Manager who stays in close contact and gets to know them well.
The review schedule looks like this:
- After the first week: a friendly call to check your loved one is happy and settled, and that everything's off to a good start.
- At 3, 6 and 9 months: regular care plan reviews through the first year, with an annual renewal to refresh everything thoroughly. This same rhythm then continues, year after year.
- Roughly every three months: contact or a visit from your dedicated Care Manager, to make sure the care still fits.
The more in-depth reviews (at six months and annually) are typically full home visits that bring everyone together: family, carers, and any other professionals involved, such as nurses or social workers, to go through the care plan and risk assessments in detail and update them as needed. And because everyone's different, reviews can be done in person or by video call, depending on what's needed and what you prefer.
A friendly check-in every week

On top of the formal reviews, our office team gives clients and their carers a weekly check-in call. It's a simple, human thing, a regular chance to ask how everyone's getting on, catch any opinions early, and make sure everyone feels happy and supported. Often it's these little conversations that keep everything running smoothly.
We act quickly when things change
Life doesn't always wait for the next scheduled review, so certain situations prompt us to review care straight away. These include:
- A change in someone's health or support needs
- A hospital admission or discharge
- Any concern around medication
- An accident, incident or near miss
- Any safeguarding concern
- A worry raised by a carer, or about the placement
- Any concern or complaint from the family
Whenever something changes, we talk it through with you, record it in the digital care plan, and make sure your carers know about it promptly, so the care always keeps pace with real life.
Great carers, consistently supported
Because the quality of care depends so completely on the carer providing it, looking after and continually developing our carers is central to looking after our clients. Our high standards don't stop once a carer joins us: we support, monitor and develop them throughout, so the excellence they start with only grows.
Staying close from day one
Every carer receives a check-in call within the first few days of starting or returning to a care package, and regular contact continues from there, keeping an eye on how the placement is going, how the carer is doing, and catching any concerns early. Alongside this, we review platform feedback, care notes and communication logs on an ongoing basis.
Spot checks, supervisions and appraisals

We support our carers to keep their practice sharp through a structured, dependable rhythm:
- Spot checks at around three months and annually, which may include observing practice, reviewing documentation, and checking infection-prevention standards and adherence to the care plan.
- Regular supervisions (at least every six months) focused on safe, competent practice, wellbeing, training needs, documentation, and reflective learning, with extra sessions whenever they'd be helpful, such as after an incident or if a carer simply asks for more support.
- An annual appraisal for every carer, reviewing their performance, the feedback we've gathered from clients and families, their training record, and their goals for the year ahead.
Where a concern is ever raised, we follow a fair, transparent process that always gives the carer the chance to share their account, with the focus firmly on learning and improvement.
Keeping skills current
We maintain a training matrix that tracks every carer's induction, mandatory training and refreshers, and we arrange targeted retraining wherever it's needed. Background (DBS) checks are kept up to date too, confirming that every carer remains suitable to provide care.
A framework of core competencies

Underpinning all of this is our Carer Competency Framework: a structured way of making sure carers have the knowledge and practical skills to deliver safe, high-quality care. Competencies are assessed through training, hands-on observation, supervision discussions, scenario-based questions and documentation reviews, and cover essential areas such as:
- Safe moving and handling
- Safe administration of medication, and accurate medication records
- Basic life support and first aid
- Mental capacity and safeguarding
- Accurate recording and reporting
- Safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
We're always strengthening this framework, with particular current focus on moving and handling, medication administration and record-keeping, and first aid, supported by audits, refresher training and targeted supervision. It's how we make sure the high standards our carers start with are the standards they maintain, day in and day out.
Everyday transparency through our platform

Much of our quality monitoring happens quietly in the background, but a lot of it is visible to you in real time, through our bespoke platform. Day to day, you can see:
- When your carer arrives: and if they're running late, and why
- When they finish
- What's been done, in line with the care plan
- Relevant health and wellbeing information
- Notes of the day: the walk in the park, the trip to a museum, the little moments
After each visit, a summary is shared to keep you informed, and you're welcome to leave feedback on it, which feeds directly back into how we monitor and improve. And you can be confident it's all held safely: records are stored in secure, encrypted systems with proper access controls.
Oversight behind the scenes

Underpinning all of this is a framework of governance that most families never need to see, but can take comfort in: regular audits, key quality measures tracked closely, a log of any issues and the actions taken, and a schedule of policy reviews so we keep learning and improving. Overseeing it all is our Registered Manager, responsible for the quality and safety of the care we provide.
It's this combination: everyday attentiveness plus proper structure, that earned us a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, and that drives us to keep raising our own bar.
Quality you can feel confident in
Ensuring quality, for us, means never standing still: always listening, always checking, always reviewing, and always looking for ways to do a little better. But behind every system and review is something simple and human: a genuine determination to give the people we care for the very best, and to give their families real peace of mind.
